Residents of Hammond:

The Village Board would like to take a moment of your time to advise you of some events happening in the Village.

Last year we put up the new pavilion through a grant from Patty Ritchie and Addie Jenne Russell and have had great comments from putting it up. We hope to add to it in future years to come. As well, as it has been used for numerous events already but we wanted everyone to know they can reserve it for their use just like the Village Hall. Please call Mayor Shelly Youngs to reserve it.

The Hammond Garden Group has graciously supported the Village throughout the years by providing flowers and will also be helping us to decorate our new “wagon” with beautiful flowers to make our village welcoming.

This coming summer, we are having live music, in which we have a band come and play music at the pavilion. Currently we have the Chippewa Breeze playing on June 29th, from 5-7 PM and the Christian Lighthouse Band on July 27th from 5-7 PM. On June 29th, we will also have Jackie Washburn’s food truck, “Tex Mex” coming to provide awesome food and refreshments to all that come. Please make sure you bring your lawn chair and come enjoy the music. Please look for August dates to come!

Also, this summer running every Wednesday from Mid-June through Mid-September from 3-6 is our Farmer’s Market. Please come support our local vendors.

This year we hope to bring ice skating to the pavilion for winter activities. We are currently looking for volunteers to help in this endeavor. We would like to setup a board to help organize, possibly fundraise, setup and remove the skating rink. If you know someone in the Village or Town that might be interested, please don’t hesitate to let them know and tell them to come to the meeting. We will be having a meeting on May 3rd at 6 PM in the Village Hall to discuss all our options.

We have the annual Memorial Day parade service on May 29th at 11:00 am. We hope you can all attend. As usual, we will have a speaker and the Hammond School Marching Band as well as other community groups present. After the ceremony please don’t forget to support the Hammond Fire Department with their annual chicken BBQ at noon.

Lastly, the annual community wide garage sale is on July 8th. This sale consists of the Village of Hammond, Chippewa Bay and Black Lake areas. If you wish to be put on the garage sale list, please call Patti Belknap.

We thank you for all your support over the years. We hope to see you all soon.

Sincerely,

Hammond Village Board
